Big changes in IELTS test

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an internationally recognized method of verifying English language proficiency for those whose mother tongue is not English. This test is very popular in testing English language proficiency. IELTS scores are mentioned as a prerequisite for job applications starting from higher education in foreign countries. IELTS was once essential for higher education in the UK and Australia. However, currently universities in the United States and Canada are also accepting test scores and universities in most European countries accept IELTS.

Recently, the British Council and IDP (International Development Program) Education, the organization that controls the IELTS test in Bangladesh, have brought a big change in the IELTS test. Earlier, it was compulsory to use pencil in IELTS Listening and Reading Examination, any one of the pencils or pens was allowed to be used in the writing part. But if the new rules are implemented, the pen will have to be used compulsorily in the three parts of Listening, Reading and Writing. Pencils cannot be used in any way. This rule will be effective in Bangladesh from January 25 in both academic and general IELTS. The authorities will arrange the pen at the center. Candidates cannot bring anything other than passport or national identity card to the center.

Bangladeshi teachers and students of IELTS think that Bangladeshi students will face a little problem due to the new rules. Because they mostly use pencils in exams. The use of pencil in listening, reading and writing parts is convenient. Because, if you make a mistake, it can be fixed immediately by removing it with rubber. But due to the use of the pen, if you make a mistake, you will have to cut it, there will be no place to write properly.

Due to the use of pencils, the examinees could easily delete it and write the correct answer. But due to the use of pens, the examinees will not get this benefit. The most problem will be in the writing part. If you want to delete a new vocabulary or a correction, you will have to face a big problem. Because, writing with a pen will not be able to erase, you have to cut, there will be no place to write new words after cutting.
