Japan can be one of the preferred destinations for those who want to study abroad. Currently, many students of Bangladesh are migrating to Japan, the land of the rising sun, for higher education. Japan has emerged as one of the leading countries in the world due to its education system, advanced knowledge and technology. In addition, Japanese educational institutions play a role not only in academic achievement but also in the human development of students.

Japan has a perfect living environment for international students. There are opportunities for better treatment at low cost with health insurance. Japan is globally admired for its low crime rate and public transport.

Students wishing to study in Japan must take one of several tests, including the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students-EJU, the Japanese Language Proficiency Test-JLPT, and the Unified/Common University Entrance Test.

  1. EJU Exam

Students who want to study at Japanese universities as undergraduates have to take the ‘Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students-EJU’ exam. It is one of the examination methods of undergraduate study. This test measures basic academic knowledge of science, knowledge of Japan, the world, and mathematics. This exam is conducted twice a year. The score obtained in this test is valid for two years.

A total of 479 universities in Japan ask anyone to submit an application EJU score. This exam is held in June and November every year. The exam is held in different countries of the world including New Delhi, India.

2. JLPT Exam

The JLPT is a test to measure the Japanese language proficiency of foreign students applying for admission to the country. The test examines how much the applicant knows about the characters, vocabulary and grammar of the Japanese language and their communication skills in the language. This exam is held in July and December every year. Apart from Japan, the test is held in 96 countries around the world.

3. Unified/Common University Entrance Test

This test is for Japanese students. Students who want to study in the country’s national universities and some private universities have to take this exam at the undergraduate level. Most universities do not require international students to take this test. But some programs may require it for admission mainly to medical and dental courses.

4. Proficiency test in English

Most Japanese universities require proof of English proficiency for application. Students may be required to submit TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC or Aiken scores.
