Job Summary:
As a MEP Design Engineer, you will assist in the design and coordination of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems under the guidance of senior engineers. This role is ideal for someone with a technical background and a passion for building systems design who is looking to start or further their career in the construction and engineering industry.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the design of HVAC, electrical, fire, utility piping and plumbing systems using AutoCAD, Revit, and other BIM tools
2. Perform basic load calculations and assist in sizing mechanical and electrical equipment
3. Prepare and update drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
4. Participate in coordination meetings and collaborate with architects, engineers, and other disciplines
5. Assist in reviewing design documents for code compliance and design accuracy
6. Contribute to the preparation of material specifications and cost estimates
7. Visit project sites with senior staff for inspections and progress checks
8. Learn and apply relevant codes and standards (e.g., BNBC, ASHRAE, NEC, IPC)
Qualifications:
Bachelor/Diploma degree in Mechanical, or Electrical, Engineering
Internship or co-op experience in MEP design is a plus
Basic knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, or similar CAD tools
Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
Good communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with building codes and MEP design concepts
Exposure to green building principles or certifications (e.g., LEED)
